The brand’s goal was to redefine the perspective on Africanism through fashion while being relateable to changing times. Making this wearable connection with Mama Africa, the designer Maryanne Mokoko creates clothing with which enables women feel proud of who they are.

Maryanne Enanga Mokoko is a naturalized American, born of Cameroonian parents in Central, Africa. Her dream had always been to change the way we see African Fashion. When she migrated to the diaspora at the age of 14, she found the outlet that could make many like her unafraid and proud of their African heritage.

The designer has always been inspired by art and culture. As a youth, she spent most of her alone time sketching women dressed in unique patterns. Holding a degree in Architecture from the HBCU Howard University, her constant inspirations are themed around geometry, nature, curved patterns and life that inspires space.

She began her fashion ventures in the summer of 2006 with the clothing company Côté Minou alongside business partner Stephanie Mouapi until 2011. The venture trail-blazed as they empowered youths in many cities across the USA.

In 2013, Maryanne launched Koko Nanga in an attempt to fortify her perspective on African Fashion. The brand, among other fabrics, mainly uses the print commonly known around the world as “Ankara”. With these Afro-chic designs, the designer adds a modern flair and uniqueness to her brand

What being a #WorkingWoman means to them: A working woman is a proud woman who can vouch for her self and her worth. She doesn’t makes excuses, believes in growth and alignment.
